Our team name is Skittles & we are extremely excited to be taking part in this years run, we can not wait!! It makes it even sweeter because the chosen charity for this year is the NSPCC – If you don’t know what that is, it’s the leading childrens charity here in the UK & Channel Islands that helps abused children.

#DontPanicButton

Some of you may already be familiar with the sweet YouTube star, Zoe Sugg & if you aren’t, check out her channel Zoella where you can find a range of videos from serious chats about anxiety to make up tutorials and fashion hauls 🙂 – Love this girl!

Zoe has revealed that she is now a Digital Ambassador (Congratulations Zoe!) for the mental health charity, Mind & will be working with them on an amazing new project which is.. #DontPanicButton

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of anxiety & panic attacks – Which is VITAL as so many people suffer with this & as it is classed as a mental illness, it can be hard to talk about which makes people feel isolated and alone.

The aim is to change the concept of a panic button:

panic-button

& turn a negative, into a positive – A symbol of support and solidarity for those experiencing anxiety.

What makes it incredibly easy to support this cause is that you don’t have to go to your local Mind shop to buy a specific badge or pin to show your support. They are asking you to simply wear a red button on your clothing! Any size, any shape. A simple red button so that you can hopefully spot a fellow sufferer or even just somebody who is aware of what you are going through. Perhaps you could say hello, or just give a little smile to a passer by that is wearing the red button..Whatever you are comfortable with. Just knowing that you are not alone in your battle against anxiety is a great first step to being able to talk about it openly.

If you would like to, you can upload a picture of you & your red button to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #DontPanicButton to help raise awareness 🙂
